National Older Workers Week (NOWW) was a UK initiative championing the value of older workers and age-inclusive employment. In 2024, 55/Redefined acquired the assets of WM People, the powerhouse behind NOWW. In 2025, we rebranded and expanded the campaign into International Age Pioneers Week.

This evolution reflects the growing global need for over-50s in the workforce as a strategic asset. While the name has changed, the mission remains: to spotlight age-positive employers and drive meaningful change in how older workers are hired, retained and celebrated worldwide.

An Age Pioneer is someone who challenges outdated perceptions of ageing in the workplace. Whether you are a professional aged 50+ redefining your career path, an employer championing age-inclusive practices, or a younger professional who wants to future-proof your career, anyone can be an age pioneer.

Unlike the term “older worker,” Age Pioneer reflects ambition and leadership. It’s about recognising experience as a competitive advantage, not a limitation.
